Egal, ob auf oder abseits der Strecke: Ein Mudder kann jedes Hindernis überwinden und weiß wie es sich anfühlt, Großes zu leisten.

If you’re getting advice from even the most seasoned World’s Toughest Mudder (WTM) contenders, be sure to take it with a grain of salt (or more appropriately, sand) because for the first time ever, the extreme 24-hour military obstacle course race will be held on never-before-experienced WTM terrain--the desert sands of Las Vegas.

Badassery has been one of the past month’s themes here on the Tough Mudder blog. Last week, we took a look at some inspiring, badass women you’ve never heard of. The week before: real-life, everyday heroes who’ve made the world a better, more badass place.

It was days before the Fourth of July 2006 when Ali realized she was in love. To this day, that weekend spent with her future husband, Drew Bicknell, on Perry Lake, 40 miles west of Kansas City, is still the one she considers her life’s best.

Tough Mudder is no stranger to badassery, and last week, we took the time to honor some real-life badass dudes you probably never heard of. Now that the men have had their moment, it’s time to introduce you to some ladies who prove that badassery truly knows no gender.

Next time someone tries to play that old-fashioned, insecurity-ridden women-just-aren’t-as-tough-as-men card, send them here.

With Global Mudder just days away, hundreds of our course builders are working around the clock (and the globe) to bring you the muddiest weekend in mud run history. This coming weekend, August 16 and 17, 60,000 Mudders will cover damn near one million miles of mud-caked terrain in five events spread across four countries and 19 time zones.

With Vegas playing host to World’s Toughest Mudder for the first time ever this year, the stage is set for one daring desert dash. But the course temperature isn’t the only thing heating up this year at Lake Las Vegas. WTM 2014 will see the past two women’s champions, Deanna Blegg of Australia, the reigning WTM champion, and Amelia Boone of Chicago, the 2012 WTM champion, compete for a chance to become the first ever two-time female World’s Toughest Mudder.

As with protocol, all new Pennsylvania State Troopers are required to complete a Line of Duty Death Form. Included on the form: medical and insurance information, next of kin and pallbearer preferences.

Having just completed coach/pupil training under 34-year-old, six-year veteran and former Marine Joshua Miller, one of Josh’s pupils wrote him an email requesting Josh’s permission to write him in as a pallbearer should he fall in the line of duty.

Virginia native and six-time Tough Mudder finisher Heather Ferguson is much more than a World’s Toughest Mudder. She’s mother to the World’s Toughest Baby. So what exactly constitutes “tough” for a baby? How about running 1,600 miles… before being born. Yes, we thought she had some explaining to do too--that’s why we asked Heather to tell her story of her daughter Zoey, aka World’s Toughest Baby (WTB), in her own words.

Be afraid, Chuck Norris. Be very afraid.

One of the first things you’ll notice upon walking into Tough Mudder Headquarters is a cast of characters as electrifying and diverse as our on-course obstacles. And while there’s no doubt you’re familiar with our military-style obstacles, few have a chance to meet the minds behind the mud-coated madness.

Inspired by the events following 9/11, and officially founded in 2003, Wounded Warrior Project, Tough Mudder's official charity partner, began with the simple desire to provide comfort items to wounded service members at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Over the past decade, however, the organization has grown into a holistic rehabilitation initiative, assisting veterans in countless ways as they transition back into civilian life.

Let's all get over the phrase, "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas." Anyone who's been to Sin City knows that any questionably awesome stuff you get yourself into gets tucked away in your brag bag, just waiting for the optimal moment to emerge and let the world know how adventurous you are.

On most days, Vegas’ boldest gamblers are found in exclusive high roller rooms or at no-limit tables behind heavily-guarded, back-alley doors. On November 16, 2014, however, Sin City’s most fearless risk-takers will assemble at Lake Las Vegas for one of the world’s most insane endurance races—World’s Toughest Mudder.

For the first time ever, World’s Toughest Mudder, the military obstacle course endurance race to determine which man, woman and team can cover the most miles of course in 24 hours, will be held in the sweltering heat of the Nevada desert.

In training for a Tough Mudder, most people execute their extreme workouts in gyms. Others take a more hands-on approach—hitting the great outdoors and channeling their inner animal. One Mudder, however, takes animalistic training to a whole new level.

Meet 24-year-old safari park keeper and future Tough Mudder Scotland finisher Graeme Alexander, practitioner of quite possibly the world’s ‘wildest’ workout routine. So with whom and where does Graeme train? With Rhinos. At a safari park. In Scotland.

Yeah. We had some questions too.
