Explore Bali: What to Eat, Where to Go, and How to Recover Post-Event

By TMHQ | 29. September 2016

Rumor has it that combining your desire to travel the planet with a challenging 16- 20 km obstacle course is the best way get the best of both words in one shot.

Our first tropical event location to enter the venue lineup took place over the weekend in beautiful Jimbaran.  This part of Bali is known for its pristine beaches, eco friendly five-star resorts, and access to sunrise hikes that’ll challenge the most seasoned athlete or trails for the hiking newbie.  Let’s just say Jimbaran has more than enough activities to build an incredible ‘mudcation’.

Fuel: Cuca and Lia Cafe

CucaIf you LOVE to eat, this is the place. The food has been described as “edible art” and is well known as the place to get amazing Balinese fusion.  This restaurant is known for its excellent quality as well as its friendly waitstaff. It is “couple friendly” airy, clean and has an open-concept kitchen, which adds to the fine-dining experience. Many recommend the grilled octopus.

Lia CaféReservations are recommended for this unique beach-side café. The Lia Café has a reputation for serving the freshest seafood with the best view in Jimbaran. They also have live music and their prices are reasonable. You get to have the experience of digging your feet in the sand while watching a breathtaking sunset as you enjoy some of the freshest seafood in Jimbaran.

HIKING AND ADVENTURE: Mount Agung Sunrise Trek- Advanced

At 3000 meters above sea level, this is not an easy climb. This is a real mountain trek. But, if you’ve already committed yourself to a Tough Mudder, what’s an extra day of trekking followed by waterfall exploration?

There is a short trail and a long trail. The short trail takes 4-5 hours and the long trail takes 6-7 hours to summit Mt. Agung. Your trek begins from a pick up point of your choosing. (Trip Canvas recommends getting picked up at a spa so that you may enjoy their services at drop-off after a long day of trekking. A few things to be aware of: You are picked up at night, around 10 PM. (The majority of this trek is at night because the idea is to summit at sunrise for the incredible view) It’s also recommended that you book these treks  through your hotel.

SURF: Balangan Wave Surf School

Bali has incredible waves for first-time surfers. This school has an excellent reputation for helping students catch waves just off of their white-sand beach. They are family friendly and can accommodate all levels of experience. Because they boast their waters are teeming with tropical fish, I recommend getting in a little snorkeling while you’re out there.

RELAX: Kayumanis Spa, Jimbaran

If you are in need of a little post-race relaxation,  Kayumanis Spa is a great place to go. The Four Hands massage gets great reviews as well as the cookies and tea the serve after your service. They will also come to your room if you would prefer to maximize your relaxation by going straight to sleep afterwards.
