Mudder Nation lost one of its own last week with the tragic passing of Jeremy Richman, a Legionnaire and a founder of the Avielle Foundation.
Jeremy joined the Tough Mudder community following the murder of his daughter Avielle, 19 of her classmates, and 6 of her teachers and administrators at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, CT. He and his wife, Jennifer, took their unfathomable heartbreak and sadness and started the Avielle Foundation to fund research exploring the underpinnings of the brain that lead to violent behaviors, and to foster the engagement of communities to apply these insights and build compassion.
Supporters of the Avielle Foundation created a Tough Mudder team called “Mud for Brains”, which continues to bring together a community of people looking to challenge themselves and others and give back to the world.
As a member of our tribe, we ask you to join us in honoring Jeremy and Avielle’s memory by supporting this important foundation here.
